Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality’s (EMDH) Morgan Tarmann, a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN), was awarded the Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year (RYDY) Award (RYDY) through the Illinois Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics on March 23.

The RYDY Award is aimed at recognizing the competence and commitment to the field of dietetics and nutrition among registered dietitians under the age of 35. Tarmann was chosen as the sole recipient of the 2024 award among many eligible candidates.

She was recognized for her work in the field of dietetics both at Illinois State University and in the surrounding community. At Illinois State, she works one-on-one with students with special dietary needs, conducts allergen awareness training, completes meal planning for the University Lab Schools, mentors dietetic interns, and more. Outside of Illinois State, Tarmann is active as a board member for the Central Illinois Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and writes nutrition-related articles for the Everygirl Media Group.

“Registered dietitians everywhere are working hard to improve the lives of others through nutrition,” Tarmann said. “I am extremely passionate about my role as a dietitian, and I feel proud to have my work recognized in this way. I am looking forward to what my career holds, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the campus community by supporting students with special dietary needs and promoting inclusivity through dining.”
