Illinois State University continues to receive national recognition for its service to student veterans.
Illinois State has once again been named a Military Friendly School by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs, STEM Jobs SM, and Military Spouse. The 2018 Military Friendly Schools list recognizes Illinois State as a Silver Award university for its support of veterans’ education.
Criteria for inclusion in the Military Friendly Schools list includes a strong commitment to recruiting, retaining, and providing financial, academic, and social services to student veterans. Institutions earning the Military Friendly School designation are evaluated using both public data sources and responses from Victory Media’s proprietary survey. Silver Award winners have programs that scored within 30 percent of the 10th-ranked institution within a given category.
Illinois State has also been named a 2018 Top School by the Military Advanced Education & Transition Guide to Colleges and Universities. The guide evaluates participating institutions on financial assistance, military-friendly culture, and general support for service members, veterans, their spouses, and dependents.
College Factual’s 2018 rankings have placed Illinois State in the top 100 Best Schools for Veterans in the U.S. The University is ranked 69th out of 1,423 for veteran friendliness of all colleges and universities reviewed by College Factual. Illinois State is ranked 2nd out of 55 colleges and universities reviewed by College Factual for veteran friendliness in Illinois.
Illinois State provides student veterans with a variety of academic, advisement and financial support services. The Veterans and Military Services office serves as the first point of contact for student veterans. The office assists with Veterans Administration (VA) education benefits, helps student veterans transition into life on campus and provides referrals to other veteran services within the community.
